You can also register online if you need voter ID card, or you can apply directly at the office. You can get voter ID card in either mode.
Who is given voter ID card? What is the qualification?
To get voter ID card, you must be 18 years old. Should be a citizen of India. Since you have to vote in Karnataka, you must have a permanent address proof for being a resident of Karnataka. In particular, you should have an address proof that you are residing within the constituency in which you are going to vote. One recent passport size photograph of you should be submitted along with the application. You also need to provide proof to confirm that your age has crossed 18 years.
What address, age proof can be provided?
You can provide SSLC marks card, birth certificate, passport, PAN card or driving license to prove that you are above 18 years of age. It contains your date of birth. Based on that you will be given voter ID card.
If you don't know what address proof can be given, you can give a ration card with your name on it. Passport can be given, driving license, telephone bill or electricity bill can also be given. But the bills should be in your name.
How to apply online?
Apply online by visiting the website WWW.NVSP.IN. There you have to select the section called Registration of New Voter. Sign up by giving your name, mobile number and email id. In this case you will get user id and password. After getting the user id and password you have to log in again.
Then there will be an option of form 6 on this website. That form should be downloaded. If you are an NRI voter residing outside India, you need to download Form 6A. In this application you have to fill the details like name, age, address etc. You should write the same details in your address proof and age proof in this application. After filling the application, take a photo of it and upload your age proof, address proof and passport size photo.
How to apply offline?
Then there will be an option of form 6 on this website. That form should be downloaded. If you are an NRI voter residing outside India, you need to download Form 6A. In this application you have to fill the details like name, age, address etc. You should write the same details in your address proof and age proof in this application. After filling the application, take a photo of it and upload your age proof, address proof and passport size photo.
